Does the water flow up through the propshaft bearing carrier? That is very similar to the Mercury 1500XS and 850XS gearcase water pickup design. If you have power trim, be careful that you don't loose water flow when you trim it up too far...

We submerged only half of the gearcase in the water, Yes ! water flow up, however need some modification internally, seal the exit gas at bearing carrier, seal & block the gas passage at upper and bypass it to impeller suction . The concept is convert the exhaust exit to water intake suction , simplest way to suck water

With the water pickup so far back on the torpedo I find it hard to believe you have enough water pressure in positive trim position. Caution
Use water pressure gauge. not less than 15 psi about 3500 rpms or you will wish you did. ooops wheres that damn paddle.

    Mike,

We successfully with this design since 30 years ago , over 500 racers in our region did with this system , the whole ideal was only block the gas exit to the bearing carrier, seal the mouth of bearing carrier to trap the incoming water from the hole, at the same after seal and prevent the gas exit from bearing carrier ( drill hole for exhaust relief ) , divert this passage ti impeller suction . I know this is hard to believe because most never got this ideal, we practice this system with great success, race all day with no over heating issue & by actual it is better than original water intake system , have a look to the empty gearcase and suddenly realize by sealing and drill / diverting making the simplest way to raise transom Name: issue.jpg
