Default New member- any ideas on this boat?

I purchased an old racing boat, a c class alky boat, trailer and a bunch of motors in the trunk. It was owned by bobby bolton from texarkana. It is a Desilva Possibly KR with T-92 number.
No idea on the year- the trailer has 3 nice alky outboards in the trunk with a bunch of parts and tools etc. Just like he stopped racing and just parked it. Trailer had a Texas trailer plate inside from 1956 but tires tell me this was used last about 20 years ago. Any Ideas?

Thank you and glad to be a part of this group!!Name: t92.jpg

Glad to have you become a member of BRF. You are right about the boat, but the year.....? Some manufacturers had serial numbers inside the cockpit, but I never saw one on any of the boats I ran. Just of the top of my head I would say 1977 or later. I will look at some of my photos to see when I first took a picture of Bobby with this boat. He was a very good natured guy and very competitive. Bobby ran the national circuit so he not only competed in the Midwest closer to Texarkana, but made the national races such as Alex, Eastern and sometimes Western Divisionals and the Nationals. Bobby was a friend of mine, and was still racing when I quit in September of 1981. Looking at the Antique Outboards lettering on the side of his trailer leads me to believe that he may have retired from racing at some point then got back in when the Antique circuit started growing. Maybe John Schubert might know something about Bobby regarding the Antique Outboards.

Pictures of the motors that were in the trailer may help identify the time frame the boat was raced.

Those look like C Service or the old C Racing motors. The trailer fenders suggest the trailer was built in the 1950s.

Really cool looking nostalgic Outboard equipment. Great find. Looks like you wont need to do anything.

There are racers still running these in C Service Runabout. Not all but gasoline. Couple of guys very active in the north west. One of them has the exact same boat or very similar.

The boat can be checked on the year. DeSilva stamped his boats on either the transom or floor board in the back. Cant remember were mine were stamped. Also you could add it to the DeSilva site bunch of us on there as well

Here is a picture of your boat at the APBA Nationals at Alexandria, Louisiana in 1983. I was hoping for a pit photo with the boat by his trailer, but I'm sure that the trailer you have is not the same one Bobby campaigned with. I'll keep looking.

Has a C Service on it in your pic too Wayne, you can tell by the lower unit.
I owned 2 DeSilva's, a staight sided conventional and a KR just like yours. The serial numbers will be on top of the transom and / or under the floorboard.
You have 2 #6038 Evinrude Speeditwins, and a Johnson PR. All three look ready to growl once again!

Make sure the fuel systems have been cleaned out because if they weren’t after the last time they were run, the fuel system and possibly the bearings and rings are ‘gummed up’..... just a heads up.

The ‘gummed up’ effect is caused by the castor oil in the methanol. Castor oil has sugars in it.
