Default are there new fiber reeds for a Yamato-80?

I want to upgrade my reed valves on the Yamato 80. I have seen them for 302 models, but cant find them for the 80. I need to raise the redline above 8000 rpm somehow and I think that the stock reeds were the Achilles heel that prompted the manufacturer to warn against anything above 8000. I haven't had any issues, but it has always been a concern when running this motor. It always wants to go past this point no matter what. It is hard to load this motor between 7000-8000 and keep it there. It likes to run its own way! Very powerful little engine to hold down.

Check with the mod racers some may use the Y80 with pipes and have modded the engine per rules

If you are going to race in APBA or NBRA I think you must run the Stock reeds. Otherwise, try Boysen reeds... they might make reeds for the Y80... or send them a set and they could most likely make you a set from their material... which is either fiberglass or graphite or a combination of both. I’m sure they have a Tech line. Just call them and see what they can do for you. Good luck.
