Default BayLoosa Challenge - NW Florida Beach Race

    Hey dudes,

Check out link for some details on the race.

    BayLoosa Challenge

It'd be cool if the event grew to include larger boat classes but I'm offering $500 to the person that beats my time in a <14ft boat on a 113 mile loop.

    Feedback and suggestions are welcome.

    All the best,

    Jim

When is this scheduled for? I don't see a date in any of the information.
Thinking about running with my boat. 12ft 6in fiberglass cat.

Not sure the $500 would cover shipping my boat over there!
Sounds like a brilliant idea though
    What was your time?

That sounds like it would be a lot of fun, and could be a great family weekend. A fine way to see scenery many boaters have never seen. What are those black circles with white centers.....no wake zones?

The black and white circles are just waypoints from measuring the distance via Google Maps. There is one no wake zone in the route but there's 30 minutes allotted to cover safe passage through it and to refuel or whatnot if wanted.

Seumas, you can borrow one of mine. Just bring a prop. I haven't run the course yet. I still have some tuning to do on mine. I did run out in the gulf along the beach for a mile or so a few days ago. A little chili.

The date hasn't been set but I'm leaning towards early summer. I was waiting for the race leagues to set their schedule but now I can't use that excuse. Ideally it'd be mid day between the switch from north wind to a southerly wind. Although the rougher the water, the better chance I have of winning, I'm really just looking for a good time.

I should have looked at the link first. How is your boat generally attacking the surf with the prevailing southerly breeze?

I'm leaning towards July 13 2019, a Saturday for the race. That time of year it's common to have a north wind in the morning and a south wind in the afternoon. This would keep the waves low for each leg of the race. Of course, anything is possible for weather.

I only listed the race in a place or two to try and get some feedback before I try and sell it to the rest of the world.

Getting closer and working out some details.

All boat sizes welcome. Classes formed as needed. For now, payout guarantee is only for 14ft and under.
