Default A and B Konig motors

Is there any interest or value in some old A and B Konig motors?

Both were last run in the early 70s. Mostly raced in region 4. One owner.

Yes there is... also put them on the Antique Outboard Motor Club Inc. (AOMCI) their web site...aomci.org......and hydro racer.org, there are lots of racing outboard people on that site.

You have some really cool motors there..... I do not have any idea of value... but other people will.

    Brian,

Were these your dad's motors? If so I raced against him driving his B at Montross, VA

Yes. I finally convinced him to at least see if anyone had an interest in them. The B was a good running motor. The A was a little cantankerous. The B was one of the first five of that type that came into the country. A guy in New Jersey showed him how to flip one cylinder so the exhaust ports were on the same side and make the exhaust. I need to get a picture of a space lower unit and his prop box and post them, too.

John - do you remember how you ran at that race? I’ll see my dad this weekend and I’ll see if he remembers that one. We are finishing up a cocktail class racer and just need to get the motor to run to throw it in the water.

Sure do & actually have a video which we looked at the other night. Not bragging Brian please understand that. I was running a Quincy Looper. Your dad beat me on the start but I was able to go around him in the first turn which was a single buoy turn. Your dad was the guy to beat in region 4, being from NJ we didn’t meet that much. I won the Divisionals, Nationals, high point championship, Gulf Oil Marine Racing Hall of Fame & Yachting Magazine All American Racing Team that year. So I was running pretty good. Say hi to your dad for me.
    Regards
    John

I would love to see the video if you have any way to upload it. Dad would be the first to say he was a good regional driver. Grand pop and he raced on a limited budget including building their own boats and doing their own motor work. Some weekends he knew the best he could do was to push the really fast guys. That sounds like quite the year you had. Gotta love when it all comes together. I’ll be sure to let him know you said hello.

yup remember your grandfather & knew they built their own boats.the video was made from a 8 mm movie. It’s a small piece on the cr of other races including when I drove for OMC & raced in Paris. I have no way to upload that piece with your father but can send the cd to you if you promise to return it. Send your address to jschubert19j@gmail.com & I’ll send it.
