not sure but they just released a consumer version but it has the large gearcase.

the global T850 fleet might have to convert to it soon as its the only 15" you can buy

I happened to be talking with Fred Hauenstein, yesterday, 7/31/20, I asked about the new Formula One 4 Stroke. I guess the motor is ready to race. I guess it has a overdrive gearcase. Mercury is waiting for UIM approval or something.

So, I asked about the 60 HP Formula Race, he told me Mercury no longer makes it, but does make a short shaft 60 with the larger gearcase, and the motor turns 500 MORE RPM's than the Formula Race...

Interesting to me, as the bigger gearcase will be much stronger and a nice low water nose would off set the larger size.

Iwonder what these motors will sell for.

If they are only selling the 60R and not the Formula Race 60 (small gearcase), that would be sad.. It is still up on their website:
    https://www.mercuryracing.com/outboa...i-formularace/

there is some info here regarding the 60R (large gearcase):
    https://www.wavetowave.com/home/2020...-new-direction

If you are right about the 500 more rpm with the 60R (large gearcase), that would be great.

A competitor of mine running T750 with the Formula Race 60 hits around 6200-6300rpm and needs more rpm to maintain top speed and to run a lower pitch prop for acceleration.

e-tec injector system will run big rpm but the emission advantage they have starts disappearing so I dont think they could sell a production engine that had a big rev limit?
( well couldnt in the EU anyway, luckily the EPA have allowance for competition only)
