To answer your questions, yes a fishing powerhead can be used.. To enlighten the overall questions as much there is hipe. the 25XS was only a 25 fishing powerhead to begin with.. If you were to go to www.mercruiserparts.com and look up the 25 seapro motor you would find the the part numbers match that off a 25xs directly less the mid-section and lower unit and decals.
