outboardjetboater. To give your opinion is one thing but it's not a good idea to downplay someone elses. Try and be respectfull to the guys who give their opinion based on experiance.

    Default an omc 3 banger

any 3cylinder omc puts out more than a 44 "merc". but, a 65 horsepower or more omc is to BE PREFERED . Especially any with flat top pistons , because milling the head is the way to high compression (as long as you use "suitable gasoline")early omc's had domed pistons - not desirable, IF you want to raise compression . the early 75 stingers also had lite weight pistons and rods, long time not available . I am guessing that the early 65&70's also had the lite weight pistons & rods . They were superceded with heavier stuff , because of pleasure boaters lugging the engines and burning pistons . The two cylinder loopers really had that problem . The people who revved the snot outta their loopers had much LESS problems .

    Default 3cyl.OMC

There is a guy here in Beaumont with a 70hp JohnRude on a 15' Viper just like mine that runs right on 60mph. Seems like the little VooDoo would FLY. Props are a dime a dozen because of the SST60 class. It makes perfect since to try and do something with the Mariner but if it was mine I'd sell it and look for an OMC. Any way you go remember(YOU GOTTA PAY TO PLAY)

    Default Props ?

I don't THINK the old sst60 or S E class will help on props for any long shaft 70 or 75 , they use V-4 props . SPline is same, but v-4 has a larger diameter gearcase than the nitro , which the 50 cubic inch short shaft( & S S T 60 ) Hustlers& Stingers used . I would imagine that there is quite a few
V-4 (gearshift) racing props out there . The omc s.s. cleaver 25" pitch was a good one . (3 blade)

    Talking Yard Bird.

Hey Roy. Why don't you tell him to get some JATO or RATO bottles. For a little boost.

Look for ww2 war surplus V-1 buzz bombs. They used jato's
, but you have to adapt to your boat . Also some u s air force cargo planes had jato's attached , at one time (for short takeoffs ) - They are really a small ROCKET engine

Hmmn ! maybe take out the war head out of a SIDEWINDER missle , & strap them on . It would need a pair , if you want to go straight
