    Default Merc 85 Inline

A buddy of mine is selling his 85 inline, long shaft, no trim, and i am curious about the motor. are they decent motors? good power, weight?

how does it compare with the old 75 omc loopers? i know it is a long shaft, but am considering using it on my 13 allison.

somebody said that you need to run sea foam/engine tuner to keep the rings from sticking in the inlines because of the fact that they have no thermostats. can anybody confirm that?

    thanks

Negative on having to run Seafoam on these motors more than any other motor.

They have comparable power to an OMC 75, but are considerably heavier. Long shaft would add even more weight and if the boat is a short, decrease performance even more.
Since 1925, about 150 different racing outboards have been made.
