    Default whats with the future

there has been some threads about the demise of omc. and why it fell through, but why hasnt anyone else made a racing moto except mercury n the past 5-7 years, not that im slaming the black motas, but im a big omc and yamer hammer fans. just wanting to know why nobody wants in that kind of market. i understand that 4 cycle motas are hard to work with on creating horsepower compared to the 2 cycle motas, but general motors wouldnt be gm if ford and chrystler wouldnt compete with them. it takes a little competititon to realize whoze best...

The truth is that you don't make money out of racing. Mercury and OMC were competing to gain customers in the leisure market, as soon as emissions killed off the 2 stroke in the leisure market that was the end of true factory support in powerboat racing. Mercury are trying to make a bit of a comeback with the new 200XS SST but the support program only seems to be operating in the US. A guy in the UK called NIGEL HALL is trying to get 2 series off the ground using Evinrude 4 Strokes but competitors just don't have the money at the moment to invest in something that might fall over after a season or 2 without manufacturer support or money from a series sponsor.
