    I run 20" ov set back when I run Lake racer wit my 380, 1850#s wit a 200, 2.5...It wuz quick, but lack'd the top end the drag mota's had...Wit 20"s(and I'm including built in set back) it wuz very easy to drive, and run with a lower attitude...I also hav a modified pad on my 380 that made a world ov differnce in handling...The only drawback I see to set back iz the "One inch below the pad" rule!!!...If U run 12" set back with the mota 1" below the pad, I thank tha drag will cull out the binifit ov the setback...But thats just a quess rite now....

    Az for the 2liter, I will be testing a mota that iz built for the endurance 300, and I will be test'in it on my 380, and it iz heavier than allowed in tha rules, so it will give an ideer ov the MPH it iz capible ov...I feel tha 2liter will be more likely to FINISH the race than a drag mota!!...But thats juss me!!...If tha 2liter runs 70+ on my heavy 380, it's a shoe in on a 1300# boat!!...Ov corse, thats juss my unprofessional opinion....

    But what could be a more purfekt race...a Laser, powered by a 2liter!!!...They are both tuff enuff to last tha duration, and I thank tha 2liter haz enuff grunt to take care ov bussiness...

    Ole grand lizzard your right about the set back maybe not workin with the hight rule. Thats why i mentioned in my last post that we had no hight rule with the 18inch jack plate. Now when we got the Laser (in 1984) we run the mota on the transom. It was a mildly modified 2.4 and handled like a cupcake. Speed was in the low 90`s with lots of punch off the bouy`s. Still studing but that 2liter class is lookin good!

    I think a 2.0 on an ALLY may be a better combo than the Laser...

    Thats why they make chockolet and vanella ice cream and fords and chevys.
    To each his own. I do like the sound of an XR2002 with a 2 liter.

    Oh, it'z a 500HP 2liter wit 300drag pistons, carillo rods, tytanium crank, billet reed cages wit special "Enduro" reeds, stuff'd/flow'd/double X-drill'd hirise manifold, wit 6, 1- 5/16" venturi makuni carbs, special 300# comp hedz, oring'd and special cut combchamber to run 87 octain gas

    Tha mota will prolly have to be de-tuned to fit tha capibilities ov a HST wit a 90 yeer ole driver....May have to send it to Bill Ghor, he kan effortlessly take out 200HP ov any mota....

    I think a 2.0 on an ALLY may be a better combo than the Laser...
    That sounds like a anuther player in tha game!!...XR2002 and a 380 at tha same weight and HP....would be a good match up I would thank...but then I kinna pregidus

    Wouldn't an LTV be ideal for this?

    I would much ruther be in a 380 in choppy conditions, than a LTV...specially for any time!!...But datz juss me........But then my 26' lyman would be tha better ov them all!!
