Then the question of the hour is....Where do it come from???
The Merc uses the same gear foot the A Omc uses and considering a really good complette OMC A engine goes for 2000.00 to 2500.00 the Merc is in the ball park money wise. I think I paid 1000.00 a piece for the two new gear feet that I bought last year. If you race Mercurys you can get an account with the racing division and get a racers discount on parts usually around 35 to 40 percent off list. Just pick up the phone and call Sherle and the guy in the brown truck brings them to the door. Gear foot or parts for them Racing Outboards, Ron Selewach 1-800-749-4960 ext12
Your Never To Old To Win
Thanks guys! I hjave to call him anyway, I need some gearcase seals and a spare water pump for the OMC...Now, kiddlingly, will I have to wear a rubber suit and wash my hands after I install the Mrec on KT's boat?
no, but you will have to bathe and wash all that OMC presense off yourself, BEFORE you tough a Merc!!!
hush Jeff!
PS: unless they slow down the ASH class, a Merc is not gonna win in that class, but it very well should not, as it should (and is becoming) the motor of choice in the AX classes......

I have every confidence by reading through the lines that if the Sidewinder will not outrun the OMC in a class, by the goals and intentions of the stock committee, they will slow down the OMC, which is not right...But, that's what between the lines read. We won't run the Merc in A class, it will be ready for AXS...The reason it must be so fast is because it has an OMC gearfoot....
