The motor with the pipes and not the megaphones , did the pipes slide?

BTW , Wayne , I still like the black and white photos , just something classic about black and white pictures. Sometimes I think color can distract you from what is important in the picture.

Since I see Phil Wagner in other photos at this race, I will take a guess that the unknown guy in the t shirt is Phil's brother, Tim Wagner.

It may be Ralph, but when I went back to look at the pictures I discovered I left one out I thought I posted before. Here it is.

ADD: My favorites are the black and white also Dale. Always will be. I am going to put some color here too, but nothing can beat B&W.

The pictures of the V - 29 boats , the motor with the pipes and not the megaphones , were they sliding pipes or stationary ? Hard to tell from the pictures.

Stationary. Stuck tight. Heavy springs holding in place so they don't break away. A good possibility with all that leverage hanging out. I thought these pictures were interesting because I don't recall pipes like this on other Quincy motors. It was before the "Z" engines. Maybe Larry was experimenting on his own like we did a lot.

These are from the "E" contact sheet. Racers will know the first two.

ADD: Like Dale says....you can't depend on the pictures to come out in the sequence you post. I would like for someone to say who the first and last photos are. I don't expect anyone to know the second photo because it looks like one of my Harry Echols "pit tootsies" photo's but it is Little John Dortch's wife laying on the folding chair in the foreground, and a friend of hers with the book. The guy in the dark glasses is Phil Howard. A great guy.

They're still there Dale, but maybe not so close. Here's some more from Gadsden.
