    Default We finished!!!

Many, many thanks to everyone who helped with this race... I had an absolute blast this year, and I'm sure we'll be back... We weren't running all that fast because the boat is just too dang heavy (I'd like to suggest including weight as a handicap as a rule change when the time comes... I would have been a lot more competitive dropping down a couple of divisions even though I was running a Stoker with a V8 because the boat is 500 lbs heavier than the real race boats, and it would have been that much more fun), but we did spend most of the race running (other than that 45 minutes or so we lost when the battery came out and had to get towed back in )... We ended up third in Division V even with all that, and I think we would have been pushing second if we hadn't lost all that time...

Other than my friends and family that were at the race and I have thanked many times already, I would like to specifically thank Rod Z and Al Stoker for the setup advice, and Ron for trying to get me a different prop (even though we didn't get it or run it, thanks for the help!!!)... I'd also like to thank Tinker for the helmet... The open face was a heck of a lot better than the one I had!!! Will someone let him know it finished third in the division and that "Beazer" was a great help!!! Tell him we kept the bottom of the boat wet and the top of the boat dry all day, just like he advised!!!

    (1) Pre-race clean!
    (2) Ready for the start...
    (3) Running...
    (4) The pit crew...
    (5) The old man and I... Third in Div. V!!!

    Default Reservations

Does anyone know the dates for the 2008 Parker Enduro. I want to make my hotel reservations early. Hey son if you start now, we won't have as much to do at the last minute, and just think I have a whole year to bug you. Once I have the dates for next year I'll start putting togeather a whole crew of Opies (all retired friends) for the race. Just think 10 or so retired gun totters to keep our pit safe.....If I can keep them sobber that long...

Lets talk rules changes. How about a family ski boat class for all us heavy weights. How bout weighing the boats with driver and then handicapping the start that way. HOW BOUT WE JUST LEAVE THE RULES ALONE.....but add that you must be running at the end of the race. No trailer winners in any division.

50 minutes is a lot of time to give away, but it was a good and safe race. I felt sorry for Stoker, but he'll be back next year, faster and wiser, and so will we... the ten laps we lost doing stupid stuff won't be repeated....Other then that our pit stops were perfect and the boat ran well. Where would we have finished if we hadn't lost ten laps or so....

Thanks to everyone who helped us. Special thanks to the wind gods for holding off one day...For those of you who wern't in Parker on sunday if the race had been run then there would have been a lot of upside down boats....
    more chance for us heavywights.

again special thanks to my son

Holy crap!!! Am I going to have to listen to you for the next year??? The main (original) seat bracket is fixed... The "new" bracket for that offroad seat is toast... Both pieces split/broke in several places and it pretty much fell apart when I took the seat out... I knew I had to hold on extra tight for those last 8-10 laps...

I haven't torn into the motor yet, but I will... Something is up, it was running way too slow (I saw 10mph higher on the speedo before I did the lower unit)... Oh well, plenty of time to figure that out...

On a serious note... Our thoughts and prayers are with those of you that are affected by the fires in SoCal... I wish you all the best of luck and hope that things work out as well as they can...

    Steve...

Default Do NOT Feel Sorry For Stoker....

If you remember the movie Tora, Tora, Tora.....That Japanese General said, we didn't win, we've awakened a GIANT...Or something like that....Trust me...As "PUMPED" as Al and John were all weekend....They will not be there rigging their boat at Fred Bowden's on Thursday next year....

Al Stoker does NOT race for his health......

On another note, I saw Mike and Pat Miller at the race, (Ted Miller was there but I did not see him)...Ted and I had a very nice talk, today....That first V-8 Evinrude was built by Ted Miller.....I'll be honest with you here, I called Ted to see if he could find me a 140 Johnson...for a Tri Hull...

Bring Ted Miller's boys in from All Seasons Marine in Boulder City, Nevada....And outboard speeds will be up....

Todd Bowden, Al Stoker, Mike Miller, Pat Miller...and a YOUNG LION, Chad Hill...Truth is, this could become an outboard dominated race.....

    Ron,

Are you going to enter the 007 with the mighty 30 hp Tohatsu? The pics from last year were great.
