I blew over at Parker in 1977 and spend 20 days in the hospital in Phoenix. Then again at Parker, I T- boned Bob Hering after he him bottom and darted in front of several boats. I think it was 1978

Just a few facts, as a driver I won 8 APBA national championships in the Stock, Pro, and OPC categories and set 23 World Records. Not sure on the Hight Point Championships. Won NOA World Championship at Alexandria, LA.
Inducted into Gulf Hall of Fame and APBA Hall of Champions! Selected “All American Racing Team” by Yachting Magazine.
Biggest wins were Paris 6 Hour Grand Prix with Tom Percival and St. Louis Grand Prix (1975 and 1981), Owensboro, Winona, Beloit, Depue, and lots more. My most fun win was win was the Sammamish Slough Race in the Unlimited class (4 and 6 cylinder Mercs) with an Alky “B” Champion Hot Rod. I think Bill Muncey and Bill “The Kid” Schumacher raced that day.

As an owner, in 6 years Sutter’s Gold Racing has won 6 National Championships, 8 National High Point Championships, and set 13 APBA competition speed records. The driver, Kyle Lewis and also won the APBA Hall of Champions 3 years in a row 2016, 2017, and 2018.

I worked for the Sunbeam Corporation for 23 years!

Wow!!! How cool is this!!!

I remember hanging out with you guys when I lived in Huntington Beach!!! Your Dad and I drank lots of coffee at your kitchen table.... I loved those times!!! I had no money, rented house, company car, and a BU. Life was good!!!

Lee has raced stocks, alkys, OPC... He raced for Mercury Marine Racing... National Championships, World Records, and in OPC won the famous Paris 24 Hour Race.... and lots of other stuff. He now owns top notch Stock equipment... that is driven by J. Michael Kelly. I am proud to know him. On the other hand, he is now on Hydro Racer..... heck, I didn’t think he owned a computer....!!!

Oh, another cool story.... Lee won the Famous Sammamish Slough Race with a B Alky Hydro, with an Alky Champion Hot Rod against D and F Alky hydros that were faster.... That was in 1962. He has been at this for a long time.

Lee also joined in Billy Seebold in launching the Professional Powerboat Association. They had put together a good association with some good races, but it failed. Think the timing and economy were bad. Oil shortages, bad dollar, tremendous inflation and Jimmy Carter's malaise. Everyone one the U.S. was bummed out and nobody did anything.
