    Default Mini gran prix

You had to run an aluminum prop but you could rework it anyway you wanted, and you could claim the winners prop. Otherwise a stock class, I know we never had our motor apart, pulled it out of the box and dropped it on the transom.

No, very certain we had 48 on the radar with a 17 (always picked up a mile an hour into the wind). Usually ran a 15 pitch in competition.

I know Flesher broke 50 with his Scat Cat but he had a little more know-how on the propellers, having worked in prop shop at OMC.

Minimum weight was 550. We were well over that, I think around 580

Here are a couple of old MGP pics.
#266 was Lon Sawyer, Joy Gohr was #16, Bill Richter Sr #328.

Well, I'm wondering if with at least a 70lb different (current minimum weight is 650lbs boat, motor, driver), wondering if that could account for the difference in speed.

I know when I was running deep-v offshore hulls, rule of thumb was 100lbs / mph with the same horsepower, but we were running much heavier boats with much more horsepower.

Just a thought, that with the much smaller horsepower and weight, if the 70lb difference could have amounted to 3-4mph.

Our Mini GT class has 600 lbs for its minimum weight, and there is no reason to think any of them are at all overweight. Further, two of our current drivers are running DAH props that date back to Mini Grand Prix days -- the very same props they were using back then.

Bill, I wish you could put together a Mini GT rig and come race with us next summer and beat up on our guys. Then we could start to figure out what it is we've collectively forgotten, or are too stupid to put together. I'm just stumped, and I've worked an awful lot with these boats these last several years, as have others before me.

Racing season is here again, and GT Pro is back on the water along with the rest of the Twin City Powerboat Association. First race was Saturday June 16 in Detroit Lakes, MN. A rough day that wasn't kind to my EZ Tunnel. Sunday was so windy we scratched the entire day's program.

Video is heat #1. I drew the pole and get the lead early, but finish fourth in the end. First place Steph Hansen; second Kris Bjork (who recently bought Jeff Larson's Pro Tunnel); third Megan Halver.

Racing again this weekend (June 30 - July 1) in Menomonie, WI. Forecast is excellent. Bringing the new Sport C, and my Dillon Mini Vee.

We're getting ready once again to bring GT Pro to the Nationals in Kankakee. We're a little low on numbers this year, but we'll do the best we can.
