    Default Tohatsu Lower unit?

New to the site... I am not a racer like you guys but I was curious about sport c boats and I had some tech questions that I thought a few of you might have some insight on. I was trying to replace the propshaft seal on my 40d and things went bad starting with the first bolt. I have a 40c and 40d I know the lower units are different just buy looking. My question is are the hubs for the propshaft (that hold the propshaft needle bearings and lets the exhaust out) the same?

Just out of curiosity which motor is better? the 40c or 40d???

    Thanks in advance
    Riche

i don't think they are the same them bearin carriers, don't think you can run that thare 40D in sport C, the D is newer, smarter, got the split side ports, and another piston, two more carbs, ya thats the one ya want, unless ya want to run in sportC.

if you need a "spare" lower unit for your 40D, let me know, I have a long shaft 50D lower unit available for sale........or would trade for a manual starter and top cowl for the same model......

I purchased all of the Tohatsu short and long shaft parts from Daren.
He has never shipped them or returned my money. Lots of stories as you can see by the e-mails.

Daren, I never heard back from you since May 13th and never got any parts.

JUST SEND ME THE $700.00 back.

    No more stories.

This has been going on since Friday, November 23, 2007!!

    Don

after over month of searching, I found the container sitting in the UPS dist wherehouse in Seatlle. The shipping tag had come off and the package has been sitting in a room all this time with no where to go. So, it will be retagged (and painted on) and resent. I fell so bad about this Don. I also will get the remaining parts sent out to you also.

the first shipment is leaving this afternoon. It includes the long shaft tower, power trim, clamp assy, exhaust housing, and lower unit. Also has the short shaft lower unit too. It is all in a BIG plastic storage tub. I attempted to use a cooler, but the lower units would not fit, so went another route. I am truly sorry for the delay and hassle I have caused you.

Don, I got your money order, thanks. I will work on getting the parts

separated and boxed up starting this weekend. I also have another line on

another 40D motor, of which I do not want the midsection, power trim and

lower unit )long shaft). Are you interested in that sutff?
