    It's a little bit higher now. The river is supposed to crest sometime tomorrow. There's a lot of stuff in the area that is flooded that has never been flooded before.

    Is there an ice jam? We would get them on the Fox occasionally and it would back the water up.

    then there was this dam that broke in Wilmot Wisc in 1972....Our house was 75' over the Fox river. There were some only 4' over the shore line. The water touched our slope which was over 300' off the shore. Lots of homes flooded....

    There was a thaw and most of the water is run off because the ground is frozen.

    As far as the wilmont dam on the fox It did not break until the late 80's - early 90's and was then removed. Your flood in the early 70's most likely was caused by heavy rain in the areas to the north (flooding still occurs ocassionally today).
