Default Flywheel Rule for Tri Hulls

Has anyone talked about the Flywheel rule in Tri Hulls? Or, has the Tri Hull group decided to let the OPC Techjnical Committee make it a safety rule??

Seems Jim Nerstrom came on here and made a strong plea to go to stock flywheels...(He didn't say not to balance them, but dod say not to lighten them...) Listening to that V-4 on the Tri Hull video, I remembered how well a V-4 will run......but SAFETY needs to be addressed.

I am going to the APBA MEETING, 2008, in Detroit...Do you want me to bring this to the OPC Meeting??? We're burning daylight here!

Well seeing as how only myself and the 2 boats of Wayne and Hunter Barber are the only ones that run that flywheel it's an easy fix. I'm not running mine anymore and not building the motors for the Barbers either. Shouldn't be a problem anymore.

Ron Hill.. The flywheel rule was taken care of at the meeting Saturday night. There really wasn't a choice about it John Schubert just flat out said it's not legal anymore.

The other rule change for the year was no more radio's in the tri-hull class. It was said that the guys (me) with the radio's have a clear advantage over other drivers on the race coarse and being a starter class there is no need for them to be used.

There were some conversations about the claiming rules, only one of the top three placing motors can be claimed, a driver can only claim one motor per year and if your motor is claimed it can not be claimed again for three races.

It all works out good in my opinion. Not real wild about the radio rule but I can live with it as long as nobody else has one. The only advantage to it for me was when you start in the rear of the field it's very hard to see the flag stand at some races like Orange where the last boat in line still had to make the turn before he could see the flag and the leader was at the start finish line.

    Default Big Trouble!!!!!!!!!

When I sold my Tri hull I took the money and purchased a donkey. Now I can't get it in the new boat to take it to the races, it's too damn stubborn.
