    Default Quincy modified 20-H

I started on the restoration of my Quincy 20-H and found it to have some issues. When I bought the engine I did not know the condition. Well the sad thing is that it will require a replacement crank. But other then that all other parts are very useable. It appears that the engine was built from parts in that the sand cast crankcase was never painted. The block is S/N 786981 which makes it the 368 20-H built. I will post photos as I move forward with getting it back together. The unique thin is that the engine came with a Quincy tank.

The Louisiana Boat Racing Association (LBRA) is pleased to announce that the City of Alexandria through the Greater Alexandria Economic Development Board (GAEDA) has approved a grant for the club to be utilized for our opening NBRA race of the 2016 racing season. With this grant we will utilize the funds to promote the race, which will be held at Tunk’s Cypress Inn restaurant on beautiful Lake Kincaid Louisiana. For additional info use this link (http://www.tunkscypressinn.com/). The event is scheduled for May 19 through the 22nd. With this grant we will be capable of paying at least $3,000 in tow money and as we work with other potential sponsors we hope to improve on this amount. We are looking forward to another great event at this site and hope all boat racers come join us for this event and enjoy our Louisiana hospitality.

The LBRA is also hosting the NBRA short course nationals on July 8 through the 10th on Lake Buhlow Louisiana. For this event we have a primary sponsor that will allow us to pay out $10,000 in tow money for the event. We are still working with other potential sponsors to bring in additional funding. If we are successful it might also provide funds that we will allocate to prize money for the event. The city of Alexandria is excited about getting back to boat racing where there has been a rich history of national events and is fully supporting the efforts of the LBRA through the NBRA to foster boat racing in the area.

Thinking ahead to 2017, I know it is a long way off, but it not to soon to start planning. The City of Alexandria LA would like to see a boat race on the Red river in the heart of the city. There is an excellent site that is located between the two bridges that offers great spectator viewing. This race would also be a summer race and offer outstanding tow money, far greater then our short course nationals for 2016. This is a great location and can be viewed on Google Earth. We have done some early reviews of the area and have talked with the city about installing paved launching ramps. I would like to hear from folks about this potential race site.

The LBRA is working hard to grow our sport and is actively working to make it happen. For anyone that needs additional information please contact me. I would also like to have you as a member of our club.

    Default New 44XS

With the NBRA season getting close it was time to finish up our new 44XS. This engine was built from mostly new parts that I had on the shelf. We ran it last weekend and all was well so the next step is to break it in on a boat.

    Default Mercury Parts Catalogue

It is always hard to find the parts catalogue for old engines but now Mercury has put an online catalogue all the way back to the K models

It is like my old MIDAS system I used way back when I owned a Mercury dealership. It is a great asset for the collectors, home mechanics and a help for dealers. Mercury did a great thing with this new addition for the public.

The Merc 25ss parts list must be lost in a ECK vault somewhere? At least I received a 1975 Merc 25ss OEM factory assembly build parts list from Jerry Wienandt. Available free to any body that wants a PDF 12 pages, just need your email address..

I slipped my dealership Midas discs home every year to upgrade my home computer. I used it almost every single day and it's lightning fast at home to look up parts. I can make pick lists, print views, parts lists, or both, and have the prices still from my last disk upgrade. When Mercury went to online upgrades, I could no longer keep my parts prices up to date and I don't have anything engines newer than 2008

With the NBRA racing season moving to the LBRA opening event in May we have arranged for an NBRA room rate with two hotels in Alexandria, LA. Both hotels are fairly close to the Tunk’s race site. The room must be booked by May 7th to get the NBRA Rates. The links below will take you to the hotel web sites.
The Ramada Inn has given us a $55.00 rate and is good for all room configurations. The phone number is 318-448-1611.
The Best Western has provided an $89.00 rate for a King bed and a $99.00 for two double beds. The phone number is 318-445-5530.
We would like to recognize the GAEDA board for their assistance in helping with the details of putting on the race.

The race site will be at the Tunk’s Cypress Inn. A link to the web site is below.

The two hotels listed above will also be the same hotels for the short course nationals in July. The club would appreciate it if all the folks use them for the two LBRA races. Any question can be addressed to Alan van Weele at 337-304-0379

In case anyone does not know it Alan had his second knee replacement surgery yesterday. This is 9 weeks after the first surgery. He resting comfortably and expects to out of hospital in a couple of days. He has not let the operations slow him down as he is now President of both NBRA and LBRA. LBRA has received a huge donation of equipment from a late member that owned top notch Doug Kay mod engines. They will be selling it off to finance a young person's driver school. Two school boats are currently under construction and Alan and I scheduled to pick them up in late April or early May.
