Yeah, Ted Abel is still active in a non racing way. He was the VP of the Toronto Outboard Club last year and still Refs at a few races. I haven't seen his son Gary in years, he quite racing long time ago. Hi son Eric still comes out to meetings and some races. He last raced two years ago I think. They still have a few DSH outfits I think.

Mike Lundy… I don’t know much of him, but my father does. I met his daughter at trade show and believe they are still involved in the marine business. We still use his boat trailer today.

Don’t know who James Mohan is…?

Don’t know who Gordon Lewis is…?

3CE- James Monahan and his son Mike both raced stock hydros and then went on to have some success racing inboards. I believe that they both now reside in the Ottawa area.

Oh haha! I read that wrong...

Monahan... I had lunch with Mike just a week or two ago... haha. Mike was president of CBF up until about 2-3 years ago... he still races 2.5L inboard.

    Ron,

Tim Townsend lives in Lake Placid, FL & has been married for many years to Bill Hosler's daughter Cindy. Tim raced 20SSH successfully for many years 7 won the nationals at least once but probably more. Cindy raced 250c.c.H & is expected to be at the reunion. Tim's older brother Fred died many years ago, too young, but had heart failure. Billy Hutchins lives in Dundee, FL not far from Cypress Gardens. At the Winter Nationals in Ocoee a couple of years ago, Bill Sr. (Hutch) , Billy & Jeff were all there.

Jon Stone is still upstate NY. I understand that Phil Van Cycle is still in Michigan. Dave Hoggard probably knows where.

    John

Curious ... there was only one Region 10 driver registered for CSH ... Dave Jaeger ... my recollection was that there was plenty of stock outboard racing going on out here in the early 70's so why not more CSH entries. Ron, what did the elims look like for the other classes ?

    Hi Craig,

Wasn't sure if he did still live there or if it was actually Williamson or Sodus.

How are you. I hear that mom & dad are in their palace in Florida!

The last I new Phil was living on his parents farm in Dowling Michigan. I heard he had got married.Someone told me Phil and his spouse had a hunting honeymoon and pictures were taken with them in full bird game hunting outfits. Both his parents are gone. Stoped by his farm to say hi a few years back but no answer at the door.

    Default Truth Is....

Dr. Thunder...This is the ONLY page I seem to have from the 1970 Nationals...

AS I recall....Region 10 was pretty strong, at one time in DSH....and later 25 SS Hydro with Jan Christ and Bob Wartinger...but don't recall many "HOT" C Stock Hydros up in Region 10....

Craig Furnal....post some pictures of your dad's boats....PLEASE! If you see Jon Stone tell him hello...for me... Jon Stone's 1970 win, in DSH, still stands out in my mind, as one of the GREATEST D Hydro runs in history!!!!

At the 1977 Stock Nationals in Bakersfield, Stoney had a trailer with about 8 boats on it...after the heat races were over Sunday, someone was supposed to head back to NY with the rigs....But before they left, it was about 95 degrees, Jon, Leigh, Eric Wolf...and about five others were sitting in their lawn chairs along the shore, , butts wet, drinking a beer.....They all agreed there was no reason to go home....As the sun was setting, they were still there...enjoying the day!!!!

Something about Bakersfiield, in the summer, with a beer, that makes me think I AM HOME... Same with Needles!!! A nice place to "PONDER LIFE"....
