Happy Birthday Gene from the Christners - mom said to wish you a special happy birthday from her.

Folks, this is a picture from a couple years back when Gene came to Sarasota to have dinner with us. My mother and I surprised Gene with the very last Quincy Welding check that I had saved in my collection for years. Mom made it out to Gene for "1 million hugs and kisses." She considers Gene to be her 4th son.

Back in the 1960's until the early 1970's, Gene East was not only a top flight welder and machinist for Quincy Welding (he machined most of the Loopers), he was also the Quincy Welding race team crew chief who was responsible for loading up the race trailer and getting the team prepared for the trips plus everything that goes on at the races (unloading, setting up the race boats, starting them, repairs, etc). You name it, Gene did it. That's back when people rope started every boat for every race. Gene yanked more ropes than a rodeo cowboy.

My dad, Chris, was the heartbeat of Quincy Welding and Gene East was the main artery that kept the heart flowing.

    Happy Birthday Gene!

Happy birthday Gene. Although we never ran any Quincy stuff, we somehow got together and became friends. I will never forget the times we had, and look forward to seeing you again in the near future.
