Well Russ, if that is the worst thing to happen your doing well, we all have done things over the years learning what racing and testing is all about. I would chalk that one off as a good way to learn how to dry out a motor.

when my youngest son went out for his first J hydro test we told him how to get on plane, go around the buoys and look out for the other boats, the only thing we um, kind of forgot to tell him was how to bring it back to the beach.

so he comes back in towards the pits and is still on plane, working the throttle like a Konig ( he loves the pro boats) and packs it about 10 feet up onto the beach, stands up walks down the deck and looks at me and says " dad, that was the coolest thing I've ever done"

So the next ride we discussed how to come in a bit slower....

the point here is this is a new gig to you, dont give up, the friends you will make and the people you will race with will do whatever it takes to get you to a race and get you on the course. If you ever get out this way you sure have a pit bi^Ch waiting to help.

I sunk my boat too before I ever ran it in a race. Slid too wide in a turn and hit some rocks just below the surface. I hung on to the bow handle to tie the tow rope on. Learned then how to dry one out. It can be discouraging, but like Carl says...take it as a lesson. Stick with it. It will get better. And you will not find any better friends than boat racers. That's a really fine looking rig you have there Russ. Go to the races and meet people and you will have some to help you.

I hope you took the power head off and drained the bottom bearing!

wait what bearing???? just kidding its all taken care of. learned alot of motor parts yesterday and it is dry and runs again. i think ill try one more time i was just way to bummed out and scott looked it over and it looked ok to him. my gearcase is a little messed up it has a hairline crack in it and a very small bend but it looks like it was welded once before.... i realized everyone has rookie mistakes and i learned a very hard way. maybe in a year or so i might go back and just laugh. im glad i heard everyones storys to it made me feel less stupid.
