Default Mystery Hubbell Over Drive LU

I am hoping that someone can shed some light on the engine and boat that was mounted to this lower unit.

    I was told the following.

Came from an OMC powered outboard built for the water speed record.
You can shave with the leading edge of the skeg
    Bedford Davie was involved.
Bob Wartinger alledged to have had seat time.
That is not the original prop

    Default O/D Lower Unit

These lower units were made by Pep Hubbell for use on all large OMCs and Mercs. I believe they sold for about $325, my Hubbell catalog hasn't been returned to me yet. Chuck Parsons used one to set a runabout record.

Here's another ... on a Merc. Trying to determine the provenance of any particular one of the dozens or hundreds of these that Pep made will be difficult.
