Default A Sad Loss to our Family

    August 11, 2008

To all of our Quincy Welding Friends and the Boat Racing Community:

It is with deep sadness that we report the passing today of Vera R. Cambridge Christner, widow of O. F. Christner and mother of
David, John, Paul, Phyllis, Anne, Mary and Hilary.

    O. F. and Vera Christner were married for 70 years, until his passing in 2003.

Our mother was born and raised in the small Mississippi river town of Meyer, Illinois. Her love of the river was second only to our father’s. He ran the shop at Quincy Welding, she kept the home fires burning for him. She loved art and music and was an accomplished pianist. Our mother created the “Mr. Quincy” logo used by Quincy Welding throughout the 1950’s and 1960’s (which is featured as the logo on the QuincyLooperRacing.us web site). She was 91 years of age at the time of her passing.

She was a loving and generous person and will be missed tremendously by everyone that knew her.

To honor her wishes, there will not be a formal funeral or memorial service. The family is suggesting any memorials be made to the local Hospice in Vera Christner‘s name. Hospice provided a quiet and comfortable environment for our mother over the past 3 difficult days, and the thoughtfulness and support of their staff was greatly appreciated by the Christner family. Your gifts will help provide care to other patients and their families facing the difficulties of advanced illness.

    The hospice contact information is:

    5955 Rand Boulevard
    Sarasota, FL 34238

    Ph: 800-959-4291, Ext. 7597
