THe Van Pelt may still be in Northern Ohio somewhere in a barn or a field. That was in the late 50's not 1967as the photo was dated. Went to a T.R.O.A. race at West Bridgewater, PA I believe early 60's just before they joined APBA. I came in next to last. Sold the boat and bought a Hal Kelly Foo Ling from a friend, got the rest of the 20H conversion kit (Wilson Seaman assembled it). After that I only raced APBA, mostly T.R.O.A. until about 1964. I also noticed your Martin Outboard in your avatar. Atached is a picture of my Speedliner that I had before the Van Pelt.

I have a picture of Wilson driving a 1957 Famous-Craft, (Wonder where that boat is today), & I have a identicle 57 Famous-Craft, also had a Speedliner like yours, (never ran it), & I also had a 1959 Hal Kelly Foo-Ling, (Nice boat). My Van Pelt is a 1949 Racing Scooter, 9 ft 6 inches long. thanks for the nice pics.

When I take my utility out for fun I usually end up in a conversation: "I remember those", "I'd like to build one" "Where'd ya get it?" I tell them the races still go on, where & when, where to find plans, kits etc. A resurgence of the utility would be cool.

    Default Utility Fun

Samo here, I am retired & live right by the boat landing, a small, secluded one to boot. I ran 50 times last summer, for a total "On the water run time of 17 hrs". This summer, not so much, will get to about 25 times, but as you said, FUNNNNNNNNNNNNNN, & that is what life is all about.

if you guys want to know where all your old boats and motors are look into the antique outboard motor club. utilaties abound there. we love them and run them all the time. i and others build new ones too.

    long live the foo-ling
