    Default Fd-53

Here is a picture of a D powerhead I picked up last week. I also got another D block, FD-88, which has been sold.

    Joe,

You really scored well with FD53. Not only is it an early 1965 D Looper, the original owner on record is the world famous Dick O'Dea. It looks in the picture like it is in exceptional and original condition. Please, if you restore it and keep it as a collectible, do not (repeat, do not) glass bead the exterior and ruin the natural cast aluminum patina. They are only original once.

Frank Novotny along with me and many other restorers of collectable outboard racing engines, are using chemical processes to recreate the original as new cast finish of our engines.

Good luck and thanks for posting the picture. If you want to read more about Dick O'dea or Loopers (including the Looper patent), you can go to www.QuincyLooperRacing.US

    Thanks,

    Paul A Christner
