I remember seeing this long ago in I think Popular Mechanics. A tunnel hull single seat boat boasting some major potential speed.. up to 100. Now Clark Craft offers the same boat as a plan or kit, also with 100mph speed potential. Of course I realize that a fishing motor or most race motors aint gonna do that. It does however have 100hp rating.. [alot o motor for a 15'er]
What I want to know is does anyone have one or know about them in action? Are there any red flags I should know about or is it good as claimed? Im thinkin of the 50hp range for a motor or maybe a 45.

I think the one in the magazine was a 16' hull. They ran a v4 on it. It would make a cool old vintage boat.

Have you seen the article from Popular Mechanics? I was the test driver. Very deep tunnel, good enough for the deflector V-4, but wouldn't want to go over 75 with it.

My cousin built one back when he was in high school. He had a 125 bp on it and it ran very good. But he blew it over once and then sold it.I was interested in the aquarod also but i have no boat building experiance.I think it would be a cool play toy with my 150 inline.

Really neat John, "living the dream". Altho the Aqua-Racer & Aqua Rod are very similar with the tech sketces side by side the 'rod is a pickle fork. The Aquarod is in the Clarkcraft collection. As for me.. Im mulling ideas for a build.

With that motor you could change your acceleration or top speed rates with a simple prop change. Being blown over is scary e-nuff in a small boat. lol
