Play with the timing, stock carb jet is probably too rich, plug water outlet from powerhed into exhaust pipe area.

    Bingo!

Also Bunker Hill has worked on the Merc 15's and may have some "other" tips

What does blocking the leg water outlet achieve?

Because when I've had them block accidently (not on a Merc) I burnt the paint on the leg didn't do the swivel rubbers a lot of good & melted around the top seal of a plastic bodied water pump.

There is a water outlet in the tower housing that needs to be plugged. Not associated with water pump for powerhead at all. Motor always needs water...tuner pipe doesn't.

Thanks Outlaw that answered my question, so removing the cooling on the tuner makes is seem shorter to the exhaust pulses raising the "powerband" by 100+ revs.
