    Default First fire!

    Hey everybody,

Here is "Virgo" after first fire late yesterday evening. It started easily on prime, and is much quieter than expected under no load. Test wheel work will happen next weekend. It will be tuned by boost and EGT. Will take a prop in case it behaves itself!

Yeah ... the motor of my dreams. Might make as much power as a 500 or 700 cc alky with a little development.

    What is the oil pump?

    1) The oil pump is a 12V-3A helical gear type needed to lube/cool the plain turbo bearing. It delivers 2.6 GPM and 40 psi and is available from RP Racing in CA.
    2) This draw-through system using a one barrel plastic body carb from an OMC V-6. It is supplemented by an automatic 1 psi boost triggered mixture enrichment system - the tank above the oil pump - as the boost rises, so does flow through a changeable jet immediately downstream of the carb. Methanol will be used to assist cooling.

    Default Great work!

    Hi Tim,
The engine is outstanding. Looks better than it did when I saw it in the prototype condition. Can't wait to see how your first runs turn out. I am sure you will see some outstanding performance.

I bet this doesn't go .... "eeeeeeee-oooonnnnNNNNN" when the prop catches and it gets on plane .... just "EEEEEEEEEE"

We will want video of that!

I predict that the turbo will spool completely up while the prop is slipping and the motor will be at full torque that the prop applies 100% when it catches
