Marchetti hydro questions

I've purchased what I think is a Marchetti hydroplane. It's 12.6 long with a 1958 mk58 engine. Can anyone tell me some history and info about the boat? Is the Mark 58 too heavy for this size boat? What do I need? Also the boat has keller steering and Quincy deadmans throttle.
