i'd try a higher pitch prop first mate, see if you can get hold of a 18p merc chopper.
where abouts you at in aus ? i have a mate up here that can get new 18p choppers for about $800.you may need to rebush it to suit the yam though.
i used to run a 25hp merc on a 12ft hunter flat bottom (i think they were only rated for 6hp)it used to crack .we flipped it one night at windermere dam.
theres nothing better than an over powered tinny.

    thanks for the replys
its away geting worked on for the rest of this week so
ill get some snaps when i get it back
the rules are the cav plate has to be level or below the
planing suface of the hull also we have to run through the hub exhausts
    so no chopper props ect..
im running a 15" ballistic but thinking i should maybe step up
to a 16 or 17... anyone got a link where i can find one...
any other suggestions on how to make this thing
go harder would be muchly appreciated

stiffing the bottom and make sure no hooks or rocker will help

    Default going inside..

    Hello:
What about inside the engine? rule restrictions?
IF NOT,: "open" your reed valves stops 1 (one) millimeter all of them, (use plastic reeds)
you must also see how your top pistons* are, so you can lean out a bit, clean all the exhaust ( the best you can), does that motor have megaphone? clean it well, use synthetic oil, shave the cylinder head (if permitted) just .015"
get your propeller thinned...as far as it doesnt break a paddle under "big" power.
Go down in weight, (you of course..!!)
there is a minimum weight? boat & driver??
    Hope you can go faster...!
if not, take 5, or 6 shots of tequila..and go dancing...

    Happy landing...
    *black & oily= rich
    clear tan&little dry=optimum
very clear tan&dry=broken motor (the entire tequila bottle)

    Hey Ryleigh!

We are all hoping that you wakeboard a whole lot better than you drive a race boat!
That may give some of us some chance at least. By the way you can't tumble one of things over the wake by the way...in case you weren't sure!

Your secrets out now though mate and the walls have eyes and ears!
At least you are being open about it though mate.
Guessing you will be having a run ANZAC weekend with your new toy?
Sounds like you are on the right track!
Good luck with it and hope it goes well.

    Cheers Haych

ps: Congrats on your Wakeboard Nationals efforts too!!
