Randy Johnson's son Marc is MJR. He built the Hydros that hold the APBA kilo records in 350 113 mph & 500 126 mph cc Hydro. His other son Chris Johnson runs CSH in APBA. To see a race boat in a parade now days would be rare.

Default Still have that boat in the pic

Chris and I still have that Marchetti boat under the shed here. I remember that day well, we had to rig the boat and then place it on the trailer for the parade.

The lake where the races were held is still there, looks exactly the same but the city will not let the lake be used for anything but fishing now.

I was there, I remember that race/race site. I still don't know why my crew didn't win the $100.00, we didn't have holes in the knees of any of our blue jeans.

    Default Burlington race

Tim, was that the same race that Jimmy Aderholt attempted the "C Alky Hydro" kilo and missed because he came in the pits to refuel before the return pass?
Also, was that the same time that Bill Fails blew over his runabout on the kilo run?

I was asleep in my camper and it was just after daybreak when I awoke to the sweet sound of a six-cylinder flathead running at top rpm. Then the rpm picked up and then complete silence. I threw on some clothes and ran down to the lake bank. My memory isn't totally clear but it seems like it took forever to get Bill into shore and that they floated him in next to the rescue boat.

    I'll never forget that sound. . .

    . . . and then no sound.

I don't recall Jimmy coming in for fuel. I may have written something in Hydroplane Quarterly, I'll see if I can find it.

    52 - John Hill (Merc MOD 50)
    286 - Mike Seebold (Merc MOD 50)
    444 - Curt Todd (Merc MOD 50)
    241 - Earle Bentz (Merc MOD U)
    76 - Reggie Fountain (Merc MOD U)
    190 - Bill Seebold Jr.(Merc MOD U)
    373 - David Bender (OMC SE/Seebold hull)
    229 - Bob Larson (OMC MOD U)
313 - same OMC SE - Seebold hull as 373

The Jones tunnel right behind boat 192 has twins?
I guess it was a "gentlemens" agreement not to run twins. It did not win anyway.
