Jeff's hydro was a Marchetti. And, actually he won because everyone else jumped the gun the first heat. And, actually it was at this 1966 Nationals that the Hedlunds were the boats to beat. Stu Wilson won ASH and Bob Hering was the fastest in BSH. Their "secret" was bigger propellers jacked up more. They also had narrower botoms, 31" wide, where the Sids, Marchettis and Karelsens were 34" to 36" at the time. When I got my Hedlund it was immediately faster with the motor jacked up. Then I got a new Pappa Smith propeller which was made for the Hedlunds and was even better.
