Definitley some Switzer retorizms going on there. They boat on the right looks like a Shooting Star, but there have been soem changes made from the time John Wayne Janaky drove his 105MPH record in '77. The boat on the left looks like something relatively new, yet retro. The slope back transom is definitely that classic Switzer '50's look, like the back end of the Baby Bullet I posted a few days ago. It also has the flair Switzer used from the late 60's rolling into the '70's, especially with the two tone inlay paint. Almost appears more like the wooden Shooting Stars with the natural inlay, and colored two tone....If Dave has his hands in that I have noi doubt it will be nothing short of a work of art if it ever gets produced. Mine boat was starburst gold with a thimble full of magenta so you saw ever spectrum in the rainbow under the light.

Switzer did a paint job called the Whip-De Doo, started big in back, stepping into a small 12" wide strip onto the nose that looked pretty fun. If all works out, I'm negotiating with a guy who was of our old boathouse crowd who purchased a new Super Sport with a Brown Whip-De-Doo in 1980, and get this....It has sat in his garage on the trailer and never seen water nor had an engine mounted on it. If all works out I'll get it for original invoice!

Anywho, the shot appears to be taken on the river section of the chain of lakes, and I'm betting on the upper Fox River where you have to enter near Blarney's Island. It was a dredged channel they made back during the time the A.C.O.E. created the Chain of Lakes. There are a small handfull of snad beaches along the lower river, but at that section there is complete moronitous due to over crowding of boats. The time of day that shot was snapped you can usually walk over boat decks up there!

That pic came from Danny Leger's Powercat website.

I think it was shot at the Switzer Reunion.

Default wing

the wing that george ownes was left with me in austin from 1985 till i sent it to flordia to be restored by ted miller the boat was not mine and not for sale it had no motors they were left in the old austin high school at a small engine class it flooded because it was on shole creek in town and they left the building and they were junked the boat went to ted and he knew it was not mine and said he was honest and i had no room and moved and i bought his story i saw 5 or so years ago it was sold to a man in florida for 6000.00 from ted i saw george last year and sent him a lowerunit which was way short of the boat the best memory of the boat was at my house on lake travis it had two twisters on it and brad collins of the mirage fame was with me and in the other seat we took off and he looked at me and waved his hands to wait just a moment before i kicked it in the *** and he went from setting down to the squatting jump position and the boat has been gone since 1991 but it is in florida meatball murray in texas

Talking

Wow, Meatball -- where's that boat now? Who owns it?

I'm going to have to ask Brad about that Lake Travis story when he gets back from China, he told me some of it - but not everything ...I can just see him getting knocked down like that! lol

I got to ride in a Wing too! Thanks to Bob and Kenny!

I even dyed my hair red to fit in with the "devil" motif! (just kidding).

Nope, no Switzers with V-8's. T2X's is the first with V-6's

If you want to build/design a big boat like a Wing, just get Jim Russell's design software and go at it

Default I can tell you have not seen his stuff

You need to get Russell's book or software before you pass such judgement. More than a few very competitive boats have been built using his book and software. It will truely explain the "how and why" of the Switzer shapes that you would not be able to understand from pictures and plans
