I think Arlen was seeing "stars" in this photo, and the other photo is of the famous Starfite Too. Other old photos to follow soon. Really, WOW!
Enjoy!

How fast did it go on THIS run ?
I think that was the 114 run ... the magneto is still on the back and they are using the box megaphone
Since 1925, about 150 different racing outboards have been made.
Sam,
According to the April 1965 Rooster Tail, which carried a photo of the Starflite Too at speed on the cover (with an obviously square megaphone in the photo), the information provided in the inside cover states the following:
"The cover photo shows the world's fastest outboard and the world's fastest outboard driver, Hugh Entrop, Seattle, Washington. It is predicted by many that Entrops' record, at 122.979 will fall before the end of 1965."
If the photo on the cover is indeed the same outfit as quoted in the paragraph above, it appears the record was 122.979 with a square megaphone for this particular Starflite Too.
Regards,
Paul
The "Two" was somewhat unusual for an Entrop set-up because it rode slightly uphill (nose-high) where the rest of his boats ran absolutely level or even a hair nose-low.
