It was Ron and the problem is off topic, not the slant

Post political rants elsewhere

Default David, I didn't expect it to stay up long.

David: I expected it would not have stayed up long. I was right but then you should read my rants when spring is getting too late, the price of gasoline to high and I have developed a severe case of cabin fever! LOL!

It amongst many are food for thought from different perspectives. From reading a lot of perspectives you get an appreciation of where people come from, what they do and why. What that message says really is "nothing" in life and even in sports like outboard racing comes easy. There are always huge efforts and risk taking. Everyone has their gifts and detractions is implied.

If you want to get a personal copy of it just send me an email to catwerx@hotmail.com and I will send you a copy.

Default It Was Me!!!

My biggest fear, is my own political rants...I have seriously considered starting a political web page (Completely not connected with BRF), except this page keeps me "OFF TOPIC" too much already...

Once we cure all boat racing's ills, we can start on politics...

Default Latest photos of the TX444

Well now that were over the political aspect of boat racing I thought I would give a progress update on the 444 were building. Most of the port work on the block has been completed. The read blocks have been modified to close up the normal read openings and have been fitted to the block assembly. Doug Kay has completed the crank beveling that will enhance the flow through the new reed setup. Also the piston work has been completed and we are ready to start building up the cranlk assembly. Next up will be a water cooled filler block and some modifications to the cooling of the engine. I hope you enjoy the photos of Dougs work. After the engine has been run a bit and we do some side by side testing with Tim K. I will post some detailed photos of the port work and the pistons.

It will be interesting to see how these motors perform compared to each other and to the OMC's

Default Very nice indeed.........

That is really nice work! The results are going to be interesting. I take it that each 444 FE Merc 44 is a next generation from the previous one.

I take it there is not much concern in terms of the engine`s lungs for want of the word or is there with the crank to reed block transition in terms of flow pressures to compensate for what was ground off the beveled crankshaft increasing crankcase CCs.

Default Beveled crank

If you look at the way Harry beveled his cranks you will see that this crank is the reverse of his. In his "C" motors he needed to make the reed blocks flow better into the crankcase. With the TX444 we have to bevel to inprove the flow from the revised reed setup. If you look at the past post where the reeds were installed we have tried to minimize the crakcase volumn increase. Also posted photos of Harrys championship crank in this thread. Hopefully the better breating of the tower reeds will makeup for some loss in crankcase compression. Tim K. was over to look at the work so far and was very impressed with our layout. We will be testing together using the same boat and prop at first to determine powerplant capabilities and which works best. As things continue with the development I will post additional photos. Also after testing has started the details will be shown on some of the other inovations incorporated into the engine. Doug Kay has a few more things were going to try.

Default TX444 progress

Doug has been busy during this long cold winter. Here are a couple progess photos. We will make the filler block water cooled to help control block distortion from excessive temperature. Merc reed blocks are not needed so they have alluminum plates attached to close up the crankcase volumn. A few trick were also incorporated here. When the engine is done I will post photos to see who can figure out what we did.
