Default Quincy F226 44 Merc restoration

Doug Kay has nearly completed the restoration of my Quincy 44 Merc. We decided to run it on gas so we change out the carbs and lowered the compression a little. Hope to fire the engine in the next couple weeks. All that is required is the spray sheild and it will be ready to run on a boat. Hope you like the photos. The first photo is of a 40-H block close to being finished. We converted it to a fuel pump.

Default Next Project

Within the next couple weeks after some of the snow goes away we will be running the two restored loopers Doug Kay did. FA88 and FB115 have been completly gone throught with new pistons, rings and bearings. We also sorted out the ignition systems and made them the same with new parts fabricated as needed. We intend to video the tank testing and will post it on YouTube if folks want to see and hear them run. At the same time we will run the Quincy 44 that is has been completed and possibly the Quincy 40 that is being worked on.

Our next project will be to restore the 75HA and Harry Brinkmans 75H mod engine that he started. We will be running that on the Ropp along with the TX444DK this summer if all goes well. I will post photos as we progress in the build of the two engines. Anyone have a suggestion for a lower unit for the mod engine?

I would suggest either a Bass or a Komato Hatchet.

At one time Harry had both a factory 75H mid and lower and a Quincy tower with a single pinion Speedmaster. Were you guy able to purchase both?

Default Lower Unit

Hi Sam,
I have the Bass, Yamatto hatchet, speedmaster and a couple other ones that I got from Harry. The Bass is without water pump. I might use that later but I thought I would like direct water pumping while we set it up. I also have the Eldridge unit I could try.

Sam,

Are the Kamato lower units available now? If so, what gear ratios are available?

I received an e-mail from McKean a few months ago about those units but I haven't heard anything lately.

Default Kamato unit availability

David:

I seem to remember you don't visit HR much, but McKean has been posting about the Kamato units on HR. They have been availiable for a few weeks now but in short supply. You might look over there to see what is going on now.

Thumbs up

Bill and Hal,

Thanks for the information.

Would be handy if Jim posted here too.

Hi Dave, got a Komoto unit from Jim about a month ago. It is a quality built unit. Got it in a 11-15 ratio to run under a 250 pro motor. I believe all are available in many different ratio's. May pick up a 14-15 Komoto to run under the 750 Mod engine if I sell some stuff. By the way, do you have one connecting rod for a KE7 Merc? The one with the press fit bearing on the wrist pin side.
