Both Stepper and Gearhead DC motors are inexpensive
I was out at a if they didn't have it, you didn't need it hardware and surplus store and looked at their selection of AC and DC stepper and gearhead engines. They are small and they are sure inexpensive. Using them as on the go tunning aids for high speed jetting for carbs on the go reminds me of the rack and pinion high speed needle setups developed on Hallum, Anderson and other Anzanis etc. Vacturi carb mounted out of the North West. Something on the fly carb tunning wise that can deal with temp and humidity variations during the day of running is always a good idea to work on. The same could be looked at combined with ignition timing too.

Three completed engines
Well Doug Kay finished three of my engines. Now I know that mercury never made a 1955 55-H so the one we built is for show.Over the next few months we will finish another 8 engine to include 3 mod engines, two of them Quincy powerheads. Along the way we will do the A looper. Have a 1959 30-H to be done also. Hope you enjoy the photos. Also we have started the machine shop in our effort to make 55-H drive shafts and water pump cartridges. Prop shafts will come a bit later. www.aeroliner-boats.com

Well its run time this weekend
Going up to Doug Kay's this weekend to fire the three engines that have just been completed. Hope the purple dyno shown earlier is up to the task! The next set of engines will inclue a couple fishing engines. We will do a KF-9, Mark 50 and a KG-9Q. Once these are done then four mod engines. A Quincy 40 and a 44. Will build a Harry Brinkman style "C" in memmory of Harry and along the way do the A Quincy looper and if I can find a "B" looper block a second engine. The last group of engines include a late model 30-H and a 75-H if I find the rest of the parts. Will posts phots of the engines running.
Note: We should have D drive shafts buy July if all goes well.

Ran three engens this weekend to get the assembly grease out of them and check for fuel or water leaks. Two D's and a C. All three of the engines fired within a few pulls and no leaks were found. Doug Kay dose an exceptional job with these restorations and rebuild. All that was needed was a little time to clear out the assembly lube and then an idle mixture adjustment. Love the sound of a strong Merc when you light them up. Hope you like the photos.

Lower units
Doug Kay finished up a number of lower units for David and I. If you have a housing that is in bad shape Doug can bring it back for the dead. Cone threads, bearing diameters, cracks and so on. The "D" shown was in a world of hurt but is now a very servercable unit ready to run. AS we increase the parts we are making we should be able to keep the units going for some time. Currently we have "D" cones and carriers in stock, drive shafts and water pump cartridges and by the end of the summer we hope to do prop shafts. For the A/B/C units cones and carriers are in works and they will be followed by cartridges. There are a few folks making gears so hope it will releive the pressure on supply of survicable units. We are trying to order in quanity to keep the cost as low as possible.

Nice Stuff!!!
Alan & David,
I can't begin to tell you how nice your motors are! You are having way too much fun ! Can't wait to see these somewhere. Let us know when you will be at a show so we can see them close up!
Great meeting you at "Dora". Hope to see you both again soon.
Regards - Roger Hinsdale
