Default MOD art

Thanks for the comments on behalf of Doug Kay. Yes the engine is a very strong runner and is used often. When Doug finishes my Quincy 40 and 44 I will post the photos. All of Dougs internal work is as exceptional as his attention to detail. Doug Has been doing MOD engines to the Harry Brinkman spec for some time now. When Doug was with me at Harry's plaace and Harry saw photos of his work he was trully pleased. Besides the Quincy's Doug is converting an old 30-H .030 over powerhead to a MOD engine which will go on a Brinkman H leg.

Default 2 Questions??? Pipes & about the water jacket cover?

Questions?

Are the pipes on there "Parker" exhausts elbos and tubes?

Second question? Who makes those great looking water jacket covers?

I have been keeping an eye out for one of those for the older style sparkplug in center for years now and never seen any for sale in memory so I get one for my Quincy / Merc Alky Deflector 44.

Default Doug Kay 44 MOD engine

Hi John,
The aft cover is a Doug Kay produced item. He will be making 3 for me and if you need one let me know. The pipes are Parker and Doug fits and finishes them. Here are the two sets he is working on for my Quincy engines.

Default Does he make water jacket covers for the older blocks?

They are one great heavy duty looking water jacket covers for the later model offset sparkplug power dome model of Mercs. Does he make them to the older style center of cylinder sparkplugged Merc 30, 40 through 44s as well?

Default Hi John,

We are thinking of making them for both styles and stocking them. We will be going to the machine shop next week and see if he wants to make them for us. If enough folks wabt them then we will produce a lot of the. If not I'm sure Doug will do one.

Default Need a prop

We are getting close to completing another restoration of an old four cylinder Merc. This one is a KF-9-1 which is the open flywheel version. I am in need of a propeller for this engine if anyone has one they would like to sell. It takes a 1/4" shear pin and the shaft is 13/16". The pitch dose not matter in that it will only be used on a 15" regular 19's Speedliner runabout.

Default KF-9-1 restoration

Well Doug Kay has out did himself with my KF-9-1 restoration. This engine is outstanding and should run as good as it looks. The next engine in line is a Mark 40-H with a recoil. Hope you like the photos.

Default Nice! keep up the nice restorations!

I cut my teeth on KG-9s(H'd) and then 40Hs and regret the days I let them go to new racers who did need economical engines. The engines disappeared and now you making some others re-appear! Keep up the excellent work.

Default Keeping the old engines going

Thanks John,
I a pleasure to see an old engine brought back to new condition. Most of the time they end up as new beer cans. Hopefully I will be able to show and run the engines at some AOMCI club meetings. I am looking for a prop for this engine in that its the only thing missing. This engine has the gear drive mad and the mechanical fuel pump.

Default Going to run the 40-H tomorrow

Well we have been waiting all summer to run the 44 cubic inch 40-H and hope to test tomorrow. We have the hydro ready and if all goes well we will get some GPS speeds and a few photos. Also as I have benn going through the parts I bought from Brinkman I have 4 lower units that I need help with the ID on them. One is a Konig and one is a Yamatto but the others are beyond me. Like to know the model od each of the units and the year.

Thanks,
Alan
