Cleaning up all of the chips is a bit easier now that I donated a shop vac. Use alot of WD-40 and it makes a mess.
I need to get my own shop one day!

Nice work !! Do you mind sharing how you fix the new dome into the old head ? It looks like you bore the old head and make an interference fit on the new part ? If its proprietary.....no big deal I understand

Right the dome is locatd by the counter bore pocket machined in the head.
The back plate has thru hole
that seals oring and also locates dome.
The dome is captured between head and block. The dome is interchangeable.

So on these, the spark plug is also part of the structure, correct?

Negative- plugs not structural.
The washers only hold domes in place for ease of installation
(next to last image)

Once head is tourqed to block the domes are captured in counterbores in head and sandwiched between head and block. washers are removed and plugs installed and tourqed.
