Hi everyone,
I just returned from the Ocoee Stock Outboard Nationals.
They have had a great turnout of races. But the weather
has been a HUGE problem!
Yesterday was canceled completely due to the storms. Today in the early morning was better. But the winds were still very high. And they just kept getting higher! BUMMER!
Finally had to cancel running any more races. They managed to get some of the racing in early on.
Don't know how many races they got in as I didn't get there til
10am.
They moved the course in closer to shore, hoping for the best.
But no go. Way too rough! Can you spell "whitecaps"? :(
If you look at the pictures I've posted, you would wonder why no racing. That's because the pits were located on the west side of lake Stark. And the wind was coming from the west.
By the time they had to cancel the winds were 25 to 40 mph.
Just no way it was safe.
They plan to try again tomorrow.

I don't have a telephoto camera, so no shots of the races run.
But I have posted pictures of the pit area. Don't know how many rigs are here. But it's the most I've seen at one place for a boat race in Fla since I was a racer in the 50's!

It's so sad that the weather is making such a mess of what could have been a GREAT time for all.
Sure HOPE the winds subside for tomorrow. I'm gonna say a prayer, for sure!!

Enjoy the photos --

Tony Lombardo was the crasher from heat 1 CSH. Caught the left spnson and hooked right on the back stretch. Sent him out the short cockpit side. He's okay. Just has a very sore knee/leg from hitting it into the throttle. He's probably done for today per Kyle Bahl.
