In Alaska, the Fairbanks Outboard Association just held the Arctic Circle Marathon, to commemorate the 50th year of the Yukon 800 along the original route of the race. Not to be confused with the 800 which was held in June.

The boats travelled along parts of the Yukon River that have not seen a race boat in years, in a "non-racing" mode, stopped in villages along the route, and give the racers a chance to visit with the locals as role models and promote river safety, and the use of PFD's.

The racing fun started 220 miles from Fairbanks on the return with some wild action, here are a couple links from the paper.
