Restoring an Evinrude CC - Mod 50. Finished the PH today - fortunately we had almost every part new in stock original PN. Of course the Block and Carbs are not new.

What will you run it on?

Yes - Lars FR 19S. I have another one - so I will have a Johnson and Evinrude when I am done. I also have two 31 M - Mod 50's, two CCC's a Super Strangler, X-115 Evinrude, X-115 Johnson and a bunch of other OMC race stuff. Now I just need some extra time!

Joe - not sure yet what I am going to put it on - looking for an old Mod-50 boat - but they are hard to find. I do have a Molinari for the CCC and a Scotti for the Super Strangler.

A very, very busy summer is over for me and I am starting back on my projects.

Going to finish putting the Mod 50 OMC together and then the CCC.

Here are a couple of photos of the Mod 50. Thanks to Craig Selvidge for powdercoating all of the midsection parts perfectly.

dumb question: I noticed on this build and that yamaha build thread that the block's both look like they've been sandblasted or painted silver. what kinda finish is that?

Most OMC racing powerheads came from the factory silver painted..

Dave,

With all the restorations I have to do this "Paint Color" choise has been very difficult. OMC throught all the the 70's & 80's had not set paint scheme. Most of the "Factory Motors" had just the red primer. The ones that they sold to customers were painted white or silver depending on whether it was a Johnson or Evinrude.

I have chosen to keep the PH part of the motor clean - meaning it is sandblast to the metal base. And actually this is the way that some of the best factory motors were prepared. There was no standard and this fits my plan the best.
