I have a 1992 Johnson 60hp 3-cyl (56ci) J60TTLENE that I need a prop for. Should I pitch to 5500rpm or go higher? I am looking for the best performance without sacrificing reliability. Also, any suggestions on what pitch to start with? 16' aluminum flat bottom, 1000 pounds total weight on a normal day, 2.42:1 lower unit ratio. Thanks

Since the boat weighs 1000 pounds I would prop it to turn around 5700 to 5800 with a light load. That way when it has some load in it the motor will not be grunting.

Thanks Mark. Will I be alright to run it wide open with a light load for extended periods of time (10-15 minutes), or is running over 5500 not a good idea?

the pak limits at 6700 so 5500 not going to be a problem

Thanks powerabout. I am not familiar with the work pak? Is it an acronym?

yes its slang for pack meaning the powerpack of the ignition system.
Older engines had no rev limit built in and the newer ones do
