What (if any) is the issue with putting the 75hp merc carbs on the 40/50/60 motors? They look all the same except the venturi diameter, but I haven't heard of anyone doing this.

Seems to me that the displacement is there to benefit from the extra fuel and air but maybe there is something I am missing.

i measured a set off early 90's motor and they were excactly the same.

More importantly, what color change was made on your spark plugs?

What would matter if you could put 75 or 90 carbs on a 60? You still need to be able to burn the extra fuel! You will be way faster and more efficient if you are burning properly with 60 carbs then if you had 75 carbs and you are burning too rich! If you can set it up so you are burning golden brown with a 75 or 90 carb it would be unreal! But you will have to find some hotter plugs and the last time I checked I couldn't find better plugs
