Fast Fred, are you starting to lean more towards the 56's? or is this for a customer?

i whipped this one together for Nikko, that's his bench on the right of the tank, he found a 14' carlson to put it on, gots to glass the stringer back in it, with a fresh floor, already gots the transom done. lots O' parts for them OMC's:eek::cool:

I have a 1988 formula E, 49 cu. , don't know if I should rebuild her fast Fred style or find my self a 86-87 56 cu. for my 13' vee paded Delta.
what our your preference and why?

49ers pull nice, they last, thats what i'm runnin. on the Vee hull i stay with the stock rod size. i think i could win with ether one, the 49 or the 56er:cool:

Thanks for the reply f. Fred, I will stick with the 49 cu. , got to find me someone who can machine me some finger ports in eastern Ontario. It must be expensive to ship a power head to the state?
Thanks again Mike

machined finger ports are most lustful, i've done a ton by hand, always tryin to get them to look machined. if you add more timin to the center window of the exhaust port than the outer two windows she will have oval port quality's or a wider power band. thinkin i gots a shot of 49 machined finger ports. i'll look for it, thinkin it's good to know what it should look like:cool:

Thanks guys, fast Fred would you leave the two outer exaust ports stock with a mild cleanup or alter them like your port map? You just got to love those 3 cyl. OMC :)

you want to move them, best to move the out side two up and out to the sides, center up with more height than the outer two. chauffeured is best, the wider the bridges the better thay stay cool = the longer she will last.

the last shot, those are them, them bein what you want yours to look like:cool:

Thanks again fast Fred, I will start on it soon. Bought the motor for parts, low compression but then I got the bug and I tore the head off and cyl. wall was nice,
might still get it bored 0.020 over to clean her up. :)

if you think your hull is light enuff, a set of long rods and pistons may work for you. wiscos, i run them at, the piston +.008, cuzz the pistons goin to grow .004 when i heats them up.

8 thou. larger for forge, good call. My delta weighs 265, + motor 198, + gas 48 lbs, battery and controls, 175 lbs driver,it's starting to get up there but I shave my head for an extra mph, you should try it to you might gain 2 or 3, who knows untill you try. Send us pics. when you do lol.

Thanks Mike

After tearring her down, I notice the piston port windows where work on so I got curious about how she ran when she was healthy and decided to grind the port map with out the finger ports. I got her honed and put new rings and fiber reeds in it. After waiting patiently for a pro 50 clamp bracket with no luck, I've decided to replace my running power head with this one. Now my question is, what jets should I start with?
Thanks. Mike

It's 1988 block with stock carbs and 56d jets, I'm not much of a camera guy so that request will take a while...As for timming the sticker on the intake cover calls for 19* at wot, should I back her off a bit now that it has been ported? Thanks for your help.
