46287I now have the engine in to check for firewall placement and electrical stuff. The jackshaft is not ready to put in yet. I also built a poormans deadman throttle. Because I couldn't get the motorcycle carbs to run right, I built a manifold and mounted a Mikuni on. Now it runs better and can "rev 'till she blows". I'll be putting on a different carb later, one that has the fuel pump made on it.

Looking good. We may need to add a "SKI ROLL" to your prop to get it to plane......What RPM are you expecting????

How do you plan to steer this thing? Or are you just going to go straight....???

The rudder is still in the shop being milled. Remember, this engine combo is on a pivot to change the shaft angle for getting on plane. The prop is your 7x12 cleaver. I planed on a working rpm of 8000 with a 16/21 ratio. The engine can rev more, but probably not for long.

I hoe Andy Hansen does lurk here. My dad and I build all our boats out of Douglas Fir, Andy always called it "lumber yard" plywood. I'd say, "So, it is cheap and strong".

This "THING" might just work.

My frames are fir. 2x6 split and thickness plained to 3/4 or 1/2. The plywood is 1/4 on bottom and floor underlayment on the deck. The underlay ply has a mahogany vineer on one side. Sorta like poormans Okume.
