Hey guys!

What's the difference between the 3 cyl mercury 50 hp carbs and the 60 hp carbs? Is the venturi bigger on the 60's or is it just a matter of jetting and timing?

Thanks.

Surely somebody knows what the difference is in these two carburetors??? The reason I ask is I'm needing a set of 60 carbs, but have only been able to find 50's for sale and don't have a way to compare them.

jets are different, numbers are different, but mercury seems to have made a new carb for these motors everyother week based on their numbers. I really just need to know if the venturi is the same. I have all kinds of 60 hp jets.

I had a set of 50 hp carbs for the newer triples once and they had very tiny venturis. I assume the 60 hp carbs had larger ones. You mght do a part number search on Crowleys to see if the BODY of the carbs are similar.

Jeff

PS: It's Merc practice to strangle the max hp motor with smaller carbs to make a base hp motor. The old 60/ 70 hp triples were equipted with similar looking but much smaller venturi carbs to make the 50 hp triples.
