Hi Guys,
What do you guys use for head bolts on outboards
From what i can see the choices are either grade 8.8 galvanised
or grade 12.9 zinc plated
i use this engine in the salt and it has around 200 psi comp

well for those interested on my 10ci Zuki

I used the zinc plated 10.9 grade steel hex bolts(with loctite antiseaze), torqued up to 50Nm. I now have 210 psi and will run 98 octane

i have ported both the inlets and exhaust ports for a port time area peak at 6500rpm

i have bolted on the new mikuni 24mm round side and are in the process of manufacturing my own reed plate with carbon reeds.

engine started fine but needs bigger pilot jet

stay tuned, new 22kg hull coming and 35+mph is in my sites

What kind and what size motor are you building?

Its a 81 Suzuki DT8 10ci twin cylinder, its a very good engine, we used to race them over here in the 'avon decent' dinghy race and they were good for 34mph.

mine has serious mods and the new carb should make the most of them, i am currently spinning an 11' pitch prop at 6600rpm. But my new hull should be much faster than that
